Manoa Elementary Summer School 2017 (June 1 – June 29)

This year Manoa Elementary School has been designated as the complex area Summer School Site and will be running our program in compliance with the DOE Summer School Guidelines (which includes cost). Registration is open to students who have completed Kindergarten through 4th grade. The morning program will run from 8:00 AM-12:00 PM Monday through Friday. with a theme/projected based curriculum, providing students with opportunities to engage in hands on enrichment type activities in language arts, math, science, and technology, related to the Common Core State Standards.
Cost: $127.00 (there will be additional fees for field trips)
Early Morning Care
We are also offering early morning care from 6:45-8:00 in the library. Breakfast will not be provided, however you may pack one for your child.
Cost: $50.00 (minimum enrollment of 10 students)
The afternoon care program will be from 12:00 - 5:00 pm. It will provide your child with opportunities to participate in organized play, art, math, science, cooking activities, creative movement/dance, and weekly field trips. Lunch will be provided daily. The cost of all field trips are included in the program. A cash fee will be assessed by program director for late pickups: $5.00 per 15 minutes after 5:00 pm.

This papa hula will offer students the opportunity to learn 'olelo Hawai'i, oli and hula. In this papa hula, they will learn to take instruction in 'olelo Hawai'i terms, learn basic instruction and execution in oli, and solidify the basic foot movements of hula. They will learn a basic oli and hula. Classes will be offered every Monday & Wednesday from 12:30-1:30. Kumu Hula: TeHani Gonzado-Pimental
Cost: $80.00 (minimum enrollment of 10 students)
This class will provide students an opportunity to learn dane choreography to learn the latest dance moves to current POP hits. At the same time have fun getting healthy workout! Classes will be offered every Tuesday & Thursday from 12:30-1:30. Instructor: TeHani Gonzado-Pimental

Minecraft Engineering with LEGO Materials (grades K-1st)
Bring Minecraft to life with access to over 20,000 pieces of LEGO®! Build engineer-designed projects such as a motorized walking Creeper, a portal to the Nether, and a moving Minecart! Students will explore real-world S.T.E.M. concepts in physics, engineering, design and architecture while building their favorite objects from the Minecraft universe. Whether you are new to Minecraft and the LEGO® building system or a seasoned veteran, you'll be hooked on the endless creative possibilities. Minecraft Engineering with LEGO Materials (grades 2nd - 6th)
Bring Minecraft to life using LEGO® parts! Build a motorized walking Creeper, a terrifying Ghast, and a motorized Mineshaft Elevator. This project-based camp, designed by Play-Well instructors, combines the basic format of our core engineering-themed programs based on the world of Minecraft. Students will explore real-world S.T.E.M. concepts in physics, engineering, design and architecture while building their favorite objects from the Minecraft universe. Students will have a blast, even without any prior experience with Minecraft or the LEGO® building system. All materials are provided by a experienced Play-Well instructor. Registration for all programs will begin on Wednesday, March 15, and end on Friday, April 14, 2017. Registration can be completed online or forms can be picked up from the school office. Please be sure to turn in the following to complete your child’s registration:

- Print & Complete emergency form
- Payment for programs you wish to sign up for (CASH ONLY)
Your child’s application will not be processed unless all items are turned in. Once your registration has been processed you will be notified via email, confirming your child’s enrollment and additional information. Spaces are limited and enrollment will be granted on a first-come first served basis. Should a class fill, students will be placed on a wait list until Monday, May 29, 2017.
100% refund if student is withdrawn on or before Monday, May 29
35% refund if withdrawn after Monday, May 29
No refund will be issued after Monday, June 6
*In the case of low enrollment or other unforeseen circumstances, Manoa School reserves the right to cancel class(es) or its summer enrichment program(s).
