Together we will nurture, empower, and inspire all students
Our first day in a nutshell from Kaiya M. from Team Z and Venice S. from Team A.
When we first got to the airport we saw all our friends, got tickets, and went to our gate. I saw Cade and we just started to joke around and laughed a lot. We talked about what we saw and it was so funny we couldn’t stop laughing. When we finally got to the airplane we got to our seats and we found out where we were going to sit. I found out that Cade and I were sitting next to each other! We tested out the windows and then we found out that you could change the light. We also found out that Venice was sitting next to us too. When a little time passed on the tvs we saw some of the workers and we had to choose a language. When I was picking random language’s we made Venice sound them out and it was hilarious. We had seven hours left and we were thirsty so we all decided to get soda which was a bad choice in the future. Ms. Hollis went to use the bathroom and she saw the sprites, so I suspiciously gave it to Cade. She’d knew that it was mine so she took our sodas and threw them in the trash. Since, we were super tired and we had a long day the next day we went to sleep. It was so uncomfortable and I slept on Cade ( he pushed me ), on the tray table, and sitting upwards. Since one of them was comfortable out of all three I slept on the tray table. I slept for maybe ten minutes and it was uncomfortable. That’s when I fell on Cade and he pushed me away. So I stayed up for the rest of the flight and I was really tired. When we got off of the plane we went to go use the bathroom and get our rental car. We got our rental car and we decided to do the silent game so we didn’t bother the driver. We dropped off our bags to the hotel and headed to Chick-fil-A. I got a chicken noodle soup and waffle fries. We ate it all and I was so full. An hour later we went to the museum and we learned about the earth, animals, and human body parts. At the end it was the fun part. We had a sports competition to see who was the fastest. Waiwai and I challenged this famous runner virtually and he was super fast. On the second try we almost beat him. We were so tired so we went back to the hotel early and Ms. Watanabe went over all the hotel safety guidelines and now we are relaxing and doing our homework.
For the Per[o]t Museum we explored different subjects such as the human body, space, natural disasters, and etc. My favorite subject of all of them was the Human Body. We explored how people from different places say words, the humanoid species before us, and focused on hand-eye coordination. There were also interactive items where we would run, walk, jog, skip, etc. through a small track and the machine would trace our steps and show us the movements. Something else that was there was a space where there was a microphone and headphones. We would speak into the microphone and the screen that was also there would detect which part of the brain it would be. The other microphone would make your voice sound higher when you spoke. There were other areas where there were games you could play in different subjects like animals in certain environments and places where you can smell scents of different plants, calls, and howls of animals such as a barn owl.
Students are getting a good night's rest for their first big day at the tournament tomorrow! Wish us luck!
