Robotics Worlds in Dallas: Day 3

5/12/2022

#latepost
Wednesday, 5/11/22

I'm sorry this is a day late... hectic schedule & a late return to the hotel after a long, hardworking day for the students.
Each of our 4 Manoa teams started their alliances with other teams from around the world to rack up scores to qualify for their division finals.  It was eventful!  The top 20 teams in each division qualify for the division finals.  Our teams competed in technology, math, research, and design divisions.  They all managed to complete 7 or 8 alliances for the day.  Let's just say we all got our steps in.  The convention center here in Dallas is massive!  All teams worked hard to drive their robots the best they could!  Everyone's eager for the last day of Worlds to see what happens...

  • We liked:
    • Wake up call. It was at 6:00 AM and they used the actual PHONE to wake us up.
    • Breakfast. We got to eat bacon!
    • Getting lots of water bottles.
    • Seeing 4 squirrel on the drive to the competition
    • Our yummy lunch!  We ate sandwiches and chips. There were 4 kinds of sandwiches.
    • Meeting teams from different countries.
    • Getting to see that our practice pays off when we achieve high scores.
    • The store where you could buy merchandise... not cheap.
    • How there was sooooo... much space in the convention center.
    • How we decorated our booth.
    • Getting to see how other people decorated their booth.
    • The snacks and the food that the chaperones and parents brought. Thank you!
    • How we did in the rankings so that we know how well we did.
    • Getting free gifts from everyone.
      • We had fun collecting wristbands
  • After eating dinner from In & Out at the hotel, we went back to our rooms and took a shower. It felt very good.  We watched a little tv and finally went to sleep in our comfy beds.
  • "My favorite part of the day was watching our drivers drive. It was very interesting to listen to the emcees talk. It also felt very relieving when we got a high score though i did not feel too good when we got a bad one. I also liked it because we got to cheer very loudly." -Just Kento
