The Green Tigers Robotics Team is an after school organization. The goal is to promote teamwork and apply 21st century skills while having fun. Students utilize the Engineering Design Process (ask, imagine, create, experiment and improve) to develop an efficient robot design and program, apply the STEM process to complete a project as well as present their findings. As a participant, each student is expected to adhere to the Manoa School Green Tigers Robotics Team Code of Conduct as well as school rules.
The Green Tigers started in School Year 2013-2014 with 9 students. It remained an all 5th grade team for the 2015-2016 season as well. For the 2016-2017 season, a second team was added and we also started including fourth graders. In 2018, we expanded to three teams consisting of 16 students in grades 4 and 5. For the 2018-2019 season, we had four teams with 19 fourth and fifth grade students participating. For the 2019-2020 season, we have once again expanded to bring the number of competitive teams to five. This year, 20 fourth and fifth grade students are participating.
In addition to our competitive teams, Manoa School also has Cub Club after school extracurricular robotics programs for the third, fourth, and fifth graders. Students in the program learn how to build and drive their robots while competing in various challenges.
